Rep. Mike Levin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress and representing California’s 49th district, has been actively engaging with his constituents through social media. On May 12 and 13, 2025, he posted several tweets addressing different issues, ranging from law enforcement funding to immigration priorities.
On May 12, Levin addressed a recent incident involving a panga boat by stating: “No one wanted last week’s panga boat incident to happen. I’m demanding Congress provide $60 million for law enforcement to purchase autonomous surveillance towers, which will help stop future incidents like this one.” This statement highlights his call for increased funding for technological enhancements in law enforcement.
Later on the same day, Levin invited followers to subscribe to his new Substack newsletter with the message: “ICYMI I’m now on Substack! Make sure to subscribe to keep up with everything I’m doing to fight for you.” Through this platform, he aims to provide updates about his ongoing work in Congress.
In another tweet dated May 13, Levin questioned the deportation priorities of certain families. He wrote: “Why was this family a priority for deportation? We should be using our resources to remove dangerous individuals — not those contributing positively to our society and to our economy.” This reflects his stance on focusing immigration resources on individuals who pose a threat rather than those who are beneficially integrated into society.
Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and resides in San Juan Capistrano. He graduated from Stanford University with a BA and earned a JD from Duke University. Since taking office in 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa, he has continued advocating for policies that reflect the needs of his constituents.
