Rep. Mike Levin, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently expressed his views on various issues through a series of tweets. Levin, born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, graduated from Stanford University with a BA and earned a JD from Duke University.
On June 10, 2025, Rep. Mike Levin shared his concerns about the use of Marines in domestic operations. He stated that “Our Marines are trained to fight and win wars—not to police American streets. They haven’t been previously prepared for crowd control or non-lethal tactics.” He emphasized that using them domestically undermines the military’s tradition of staying apolitical.
Later that day, Levin tweeted about his efforts related to military spending as he stood outside the Appropriations Committee room. He mentioned “I’m fighting to protect Camp Pendleton and our veterans—offering amendments to stop funding cuts and demand accountability.” This was part of the markup process for the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs spending bill.
In another tweet posted on June 10, 2025, Rep. Levin criticized actions by Donald Trump’s administration regarding threats against a governor over policy disagreements. He asserted that “Donald Trump and his Administration threatening to arrest a sitting governor over a policy disagreement is a complete abdication of the oath to support and defend the Constitution.”
