Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, has shared his views on several key issues through social media posts in June 2025. Born in Inglewood, California, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University and Duke University and resides in San Juan Capistrano.
On June 19, 2025, Rep. Levin expressed concern over actions taken by former President Trump regarding climate science. He stated that “Trump is gutting climate science to serve polluters and silence the truth.” According to Levin, these actions include firing scientists and cutting satellites, which he argues will lead to economic self-sabotage and increased risks to lives and livelihoods.
Later on June 19, Levin reflected on Juneteenth by commemorating the end of slavery in America. He noted his pride in voting for its recognition as a national holiday and emphasized the importance of continuing efforts towards equality. He tweeted: “On Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery in America…”
On June 20, Rep. Levin criticized Senate Republicans’ stance on clean energy tax credits. He argued that their proposal to eliminate these credits under the guise of cost-cutting contradicts their support for subsidies to large oil companies. In his words: “Senate Republicans claim they want to get rid of clean energy tax credits…” He believes this approach would increase energy bills and hinder progress toward climate goals.
Mike Levin continues to advocate for environmental protection and social justice while serving his constituents in California’s 49th district.
