Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, has raised concerns about recent cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and potential voter intimidation on Election Day in a series of posts on social media.
On November 3, 2025, Ruiz addressed the impact of government actions on food assistance programs, stating: “Our communities are facing the largest SNAP cut in history, $186 billion, and this government shutdown is only making hunger worse. With 42% of our neighbors relying on SNAP, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Speaker Johnson needs to stop canceling work and do his job. I’ll keep https://t.co/v3FFXmCg5Q”.
Two days later, on November 5, Ruiz emphasized the importance of free and fair elections in California: “Today is Election Day and every Californian has the right to cast their ballot freely, privately, and without fear. Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono. He was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. His academic background includes degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
