Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., currently representing California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, marked Veterans Day with a series of public appearances and statements honoring veterans and addressing recent government actions.
On November 11, 2025, Ruiz attended a local event to recognize veterans. He posted on social media: “Today, I celebrated all veterans and their families for their service. I attended the Coachella Valley Cemetery District’s Annual Veteran’s Day Ceremony to honor veterans present and past. Let’s give our veterans our utmost gratefulness and respect for their sacrifice and https://t.co/LEobU7dp4V”.
Later that day, Ruiz participated in another community gathering. On November 12, he wrote: “I walked alongside veterans and their families at the City of Palm Springs’s Annual Veterans Day Parade! It’s always great to be out in the community to celebrate those who have served. It is my honor to serve you. Happy Veterans’ Day! https://t.co/1gxpcRaG5x”.
In addition to his focus on Veterans Day events, Ruiz commented on ongoing federal issues related to the government shutdown on November 13: “From the very start of the shutdown, I have fought to reopen the government, protect health care, and lower costs for working people. While the funding bill offers some relief for those hurt by the shutdown, it will also drive-up costs for millions of families by as much as https://t.co/NY8V4p87Bo”.
Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono in Congress. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and now residing in Indio, Ruiz holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
