Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono. He was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. In addition to his medical background as a physician—having graduated from UCLA with a BS before earning further degrees at Harvard University—Ruiz is known for his advocacy on healthcare access and environmental health issues.
