Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted community initiatives and local businesses through a series of posts on his social media account.
On March 10, Ruiz encouraged support for small businesses by sharing his experience at a local eatery: “Have you all tried The Brown Bag sandwich and deli restaurant in Palm Desert north of the I-10? It’s a small shop and family owned. I got the Karv sandwich today for lunch and it was delicious! Let’s support small businesses when we can!”
Two days later, on March 11, Ruiz posted about funding for infrastructure improvements in his district: “Today, I presented a check for $1 million to Coachella Valley Public Cemetery District for their Road Rehabilitation Project so the community can safely visit and remember their loved ones with dignity.”
On March 12, Ruiz shared recognition he received from DAP Health: “I am honored to receive the Early Cancer Detection Champion Award from DAP Health for my work advancing H.R. 842, the Nancy Gardner Sewell Medicare Multi-Cancer Early Detection Screening Coverage Act. Expanding access to early cancer detection means saving more lives.”
Ruiz has served as the congressional representative for California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono. He was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. His academic background includes degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
