Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California’s 25th district, has been actively sharing his views on Twitter regarding ongoing legislative discussions. His tweets reflect his concerns about the potential impacts of a bill under consideration and provide personal insights into the proceedings.
On May 14, 2025, Congressman Ruiz tweeted at 4:05 AM expressing skepticism towards Republican assurances that a particular bill would not cut benefits. He stated, “It’s 4:05 AM, and we’re hearing over and over from Republicans that this bill will not cut benefits. Not true.” He further explained that reducing federal funding and imposing restrictions on Medicaid could create administrative burdens for beneficiaries.
Later that day, at 3:00 PM, he provided an update on the lengthy session with a tweet indicating the duration of their efforts. He wrote, “20 hours in… In need of a shower.” This tweet highlights the extended hours involved in legislative work.
At approximately 5:00 PM on the same day, Congressman Ruiz shared another update after more than 22 hours into the session. He mentioned having a positive experience amidst the prolonged discussions by stating, “22+ hours in One highlight I want to share with you.”
Raul Ruiz has been serving in Congress since replacing Mary Bono in 2013. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently residing in Indio, he holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
