Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California’s 25th district, posted a series of tweets on February 25, 2026, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s trade and tariff policies.
In his first tweet, Ruiz stated: “It won’t even cover rising healthcare, housing, grocery and energy costs due to his Trump Tariff Tax and the Big Ugly Law. #SOTU” (February 25, 2026).
He continued in a second post: “Nobody gave Trump the memo, the U.S. trade deficit has increased despite his reckless Trump Tariff Tax on the American people. He is losing. #SOTU” (February 25, 2026).
In a third message that same evening, Ruiz wrote: “Even after the Supreme Cort ruled that his tariffs are illegal, he threatens more of them, all while the Justices watch. #SOTU” (February 25, 2026).
Raul Ruiz has served in Congress since 2013 and represents California’s 25th district after succeeding Mary Bono. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently residing in Indio, Ruiz holds degrees from both UCLA and Harvard University.
