Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California’s 25th district, has recently taken to social media to express his views on various pressing issues. Ruiz, who has served in the U.S. Congress since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono, uses his platform to address both local and national concerns.
On May 9, 2025, Ruiz criticized proposed Republican budget cuts by stating that “These proposed Republican cuts are so unpopular, they had to postpone releasing their legislation in committee this week.” He emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare for all Americans.
Later that day, he shared insights from a visit to FIND Food Bank. Ruiz highlighted the impact of reduced USDA funding on his constituents in California’s 25th district: “I visited @FINDFoodBank to better understand how cuts to USDA funding directly impacts the constituents of #CA25.” He thanked FIND Food Bank for its service amid decreasing SNAP benefits which would result in less food availability for needy families.
On May 12, 2025, Ruiz took a moment to extend Mother’s Day wishes: “Happy Mother’s Day to my wife and mom, Monica, and all you moms and those that fill in the gaps and make a difference every day.” His message celebrated mothers and others who play pivotal roles in daily life.
Ruiz was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles with a BS degree and Harvard University alumnus, he continues his advocacy work as a congressman focusing on health care access and community welfare.
