Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing topics ranging from higher education for Native American communities to national defense and presidential leadership.
On February 13, 2026, Ruiz praised the College of the Muscogee Nation for its contributions to tribal education. He stated, “This historic milestone is long-awaited and well deserved. @CINCollege serves over 100 Tribes nationwide with 76% of their enrollment being first-generation college students! I commend C.I.N.C. as it continues to make higher education accessible throughout Indian country and”.
Two days later, on February 14, Ruiz addressed concerns regarding new military developments along the Arizona-California border. He wrote, “I sent a letter with Reps. @RepJuanVargas and @Rep_Grijalva to Navy Secretary Phelan to request more information about the new National Defense Area that have been established across the Arizona and California border, including the El Centro Sector. In recognition of President’s Day on February 16, Ruiz reflected on historical leadership by stating, “On this President’s Day I want to give special remembrance to our very first president, George Washington, who walked away from power when he could have kept it, respected our constitution and Democracy and gave much more to the nation than he received. Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since succeeding Mary Bono in 2013 (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/R000599). Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently residing in Indio at age 50, he holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
