Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., currently representing California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address healthcare and food security issues impacting his constituents.
Later that day, Ruiz highlighted efforts to address food insecurity in Imperial Valley by connecting local farm surplus to families in need: “I joined growers, advocates, and community partners in the Imperial Valley to discuss Project FoodBox, an effort connecting leftover produce from our farms to families in need. I care for you and your health, and I will continue working to ensure access to nutritious food.”
On August 19, Ruiz reflected on his personal journey during a podcast appearance: “I had a great time joining Nacho Bustillos on the #NachosConTodo Podcast to share my journey—from growing up in Coachella to serving you in Congress. Grateful for the chance to talk about my roots, my passion for helping people, and why I’m so committed to our communities across”.
Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and now residing in Indio at age 50, he holds degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
