Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to address concerns about a potential government shutdown and its effects on health care and federal operations.

On September 29, 2025, Ruiz posted: “With just one day left before the funding deadline, I’m ready to work across the aisle to keep our government open and lower health care costs for the 30,000 people in our communities who would be directly impacted. Unless Congress acts, tax credits will expire, premiums will”.

As the funding deadline approached on September 30, Ruiz issued further updates regarding the imminent threat of a shutdown. He wrote: “A Republican government shutdown is just hours away. Even with full control of Congress and the White House, they’re choosing chaos that working people can’t afford. I’ll keep fighting to protect your health care, lower costs, and ensure government works for you. I know a”.

In another post on September 30, Ruiz provided constituents with resources for staying informed: “Because shutdown conditions change quickly, please contact my offices directly or visit https://t.co/2sWO3S9Msw for the latest updates on federal operations. (2/2)”.

Raul Ruiz has served as a member of Congress since 2013 after replacing Mary Bono as representative for California’s 25th district. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently residing in Indio at age 50, Ruiz holds degrees from both UCLA and Harvard University.

If Congress does not act before the funding deadline referenced by Ruiz, certain tax credits are set to expire and premiums could rise for many residents in his district.
