Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed several key issues on his official Twitter account, ranging from congressional oversight to educational investments and international humanitarian concerns.

On August 4, 2025, Ruiz stated: “BREAKING: The law is clear: Members of Congress have the right and the duty to conduct visits to DHS and ICE facilities. Our lawsuit demands that the Trump-Vance administration follow the law.” This message highlights ongoing legal action related to congressional access to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities.

The following day, August 5, Ruiz shared a local development: “Today, I joined SDSU Imperial Valley to cut the ribbon on a new STEM building that expands access to higher education in the Imperial Valley. This investment means more opportunities for students, stronger support for families, and a brighter future as #LithiumValley grows.” The event marks an expansion in STEM education resources for the region.

Later on August 5, Ruiz turned attention to international matters: “After hearing directly from constituents about this crisis, I joined my fellow Doctors in urgently calling on the Administration to act now—sending food, water, fuel, and medical care to millions of innocent civilians in Gaza. Lives hang in the balance, and every moment counts.”

Ruiz has served as a member of Congress since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono. He was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. His academic background includes degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
