Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., currently representing California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of issues in a series of posts on his official Twitter account between January 9 and January 10, 2026.
On January 9, Ruiz criticized federal policies under the Trump Administration, stating: “The Trump Administration politicizing federal assistance will raise costs even more for families and working people that are already struggling. Withholding child care and family support from states for partisan political reasons is unlawful and fundamentally wrong.”
The following day, Ruiz expressed solidarity with Iranian protesters seeking democratic reforms. In his post dated January 10, he wrote: “I stand with the people of Iran who are risking everything to peacefully demand freedom, dignity, and democratic reform. The Iranian regime’s violence against protesters is unacceptable. The world must not look away as the Iranian people fight for their fundamental human”.
Later on January 10, Ruiz announced an initiative related to environmental conservation: “I introduced the National Desert Day resolution to recognize the importance of our deserts on the second Saturday of January. Join me in conserving and appreciating the beauty of our deserts that we call home.”
Ruiz has served in Congress since 2013 after replacing Mary Bono as representative for California’s 25th district. He was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and now resides in Indio. His educational background includes degrees from UCLA and Harvard University.
