Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., who represents California’s 25th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on social media addressing topics ranging from law enforcement recognition to healthcare policy and local employment initiatives.
On August 15, 2025, Ruiz wrote about honoring police officers involved in defending the U.S. Capitol during the January 6 attack. He stated, “We must never forget the heroism of the police officers who defended the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Since @SpeakerJohnson refuses to display the memorial plaque, violating federal law, we will keep a replica outside my office until he follows the law. Their bravery saved”.
The following day, August 16, Ruiz discussed healthcare issues after meeting with David Brinkman, CEO of DAP Health. In his post he said, “I spoke with David Brinkman, CEO of DAP Health, about how the Big Ugly Law passed by Trump and Congressional Republicans threatens Medicaid coverage for vulnerable individuals and families in our communities. Hearing directly from health leaders and partnering together are an”.
Later that same day on August 16, Ruiz highlighted a job fair event co-hosted with Imperial County at Imperial Valley Mall: “It was an honor to co-host a job fair with @ImperialCntyCA at the Imperial Valley Mall and connect our community with job opportunities and vital resources. I’m grateful to all the employers, organizations, and partners who made this possible, and to every neighbor who came out”.
Ruiz has represented California’s 25th district since 2013 after succeeding Mary Bono as its congressional representative. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently residing in Indio at age 50, Ruiz holds degrees from both UCLA (BS) and Harvard University.
